Patterns of Decay Release “Of Famine and Plague”
Long Island based metal band Patterns of Decay have released their latest music video for their track Of Famine and Plague today, which was exclusively released through Metal Injection. This single is released off their second full length self titled album released last year.
This song is about recognizing and embracing the darkest depths of humanity. The lyrics serve as a reminder that those with power act solely for their own selfish gain, and that no one can escape the toxic fallout caused by their indulgences. The song bleakly notes that nothing would change regardless of who is in authority, as we are all capable of destruction through our pursuit of self-gratification.

Patterns of Decay expressed their theme and band philosophy to be “I think the themes we have embraced within the context of our latest album would be Perseverance through inward reflection. Being able to recognize the destructive parts of one’s own self and using that darkness to create beauty, being able to rely on one another within the band as friends and support to better fortify our mental health.”
The band started in April 2014, but the current line up has been in place since September 2017. Like any band, the new members were required to fight the old members to the death in order to claim the right of succession. This sparked an intergalactic civil war which took place over a period of 3,000 blood-soaked years. Finally, when the dust had settled, and the bodies were buried; the line-up was complete.
They’ve shared the stage with some heavy hitters in the metal scene such as Suffocation, All That Remains, Cattle Decapitation, The Last Ten Seconds of Life, Candiria, Fire From The Gods, and Bury Your Dead. What’s even more impressive is to know that Jesse Herman once played bass for Within The Ruins. These guys mean business and are here to melt your face off with great tunes.
