RedHook Join Forces With Yours Truly On Astronomical Break-Up Anthem 'Imposter'

Australian metal band Redhook confront failing relationships and alien invasions in their latest music video, “Imposter.” This is latest single is off their debut album Postcard From A Living Hell which is set to drop on Friday April 21, 2023.

Lyrically “Imposter” uses the conspiracy and sci-fi tropes to explore the darker aspects of relationships. The lyrics, "Never believed in lizard people / Til I discovered your scales" and "We used to freak / But now you freak me out" illustrate how a partner can slowly become a monster in an unhealthy relationship.

There’s no head-fuck quite like discovering that the person you love most, and who you think you know better than anyone else, has been lying to you and manipulating you the entire time. At first, it feels like death, you grieve for the person you loved as if they’ve died, and yet somehow they still exist. It’s almost as if some kind of evil, alien life force has taken up residence inside their body and is walking around wearing their skin. Eventually, it causes you to question your own sanity; you question whether that person who meant so much to you ever really existed at all.
— As lead vocalist Emmy Mack explains

While full of trauma and nightmarish imagery, “Imposter” is a song of empowerment, particularly for women. That’s why Emmy Mack chose another powerful woman in metal to collaborate with on “Imposter.” She chose Mikaila Delgado the frontwoman for the band Yours Truly.

This song was already so special to me and one of my absolute favorites off the record,” said Emmy Mack. “We approached Mikaila to be involved because we love Yours Truly so much and thought her voice would sound amazing on the track. But what I didn’t realize was that she’d actually been going through an eerily similar situation to mine in her own personal life. We trauma-bonded a lot during the process of putting ‘Imposter’ together and the extra vocal parts and lyrics that Mikaila added still give me goosebumps every time! She took this song to a whole new dimension and I’m so grateful to her for it. This is our joint break-up anthem, and we hope it empowers other people who’ve been through similar nightmarish bullshit to stay strong

In 2021, the band released the EP Bad Decisions which attracted over 13 million streams and praise from rock critics and award nominations. Since then, Redhook has played international tours, promote their own gender diverse music festival in Sydney (UsFest) and played alongside major acts such as Green Day, Three Day Grace, Muse, Deftones, Bring Me the Horizon, and In Hearts Wake.

Redhook is set to promote Postcard From A Living Hell by joining The Smashing Pumpkins on  The World is a Vampire Festival throughout April before going on their own 11-date tour of Australia in May.
