Royal & The Serpent in Phoenix, AZ with Grandson

Royal & The Serpent made a stop in Phoenix, AZ on this past Monday, March 7th in support of Grandson on Death Of A Tour. It was a high-energy night full of good music and fun antics.

Royal & The Serpent frontwoman, Ryan Santiago was full of energy and kept the crowd going from the second she stepped on stage. In between songs she talked with the crowd about the struggles of anxiety and depression, letting the fans know that she understands what it’s like to feel like an outsider and that you can have your bad days. After rising to fame via TikTok, Royal & The Serpent definitely lived up to their hype. Performing fan favorites like “Overwhelmed” which currently has over 120-million streams on Spotify and a cover of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” the crowd was dancing and singing along to their entire set. Don’t miss them when they stop in your city next and make sure to check out their most recent EP IF I DIED WOULD ANYONE CARE released back on January 28th.

Headlining the night was Grandson. Taking the stage to “6:00”, in a shirt displaying his political beliefs in regards to women’s rights Jordan Benjamin delivered an amazing set. Radiating energy, he had the crowd split in half, singing back to him throughout the night. Before changing into alter ego, X mid-set Benjamin performed songs released before Death Of An Optimist such as “Overdose” and “Bury Me Face Down”. He came back sporting a suit and face paint to perform songs off of his debut album. Phoenix rapper, Futuristic joined him on stage for “We Did It!!!”. Ending the night with an encore of “Blood//Water”, Benjamin hopped off of the stage and made his way into the crowd to end the night in the pit with his “grandkids”.
