The Driver Era Gear Up For The Release of New Album ‘Summer Mixtape’

Alt-pop band The Driver Era has announced the release date of their latest studio album, Summer Mixtape which is due to release September 16th. This release comes nearly a year after their critically acclaimed sophomore album Girlfriend. The Driver Era’s first single off Summer Mixtape was the dance song “Keep Moving Forward,” which featured soul and blues singer Nikka Costa. Now the band has released their second single entitled, “Malibu.”

“'Malibu' is about reminiscing on experiences in the best locations," the band said in an official statement. "It's about getting away. It's the spontaneous trip you take with someone -- maybe you knew them before, or maybe you're meeting them for the first time."

The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Tate Warner. The video for Malibu is a nostalgic look at summer love. The Driver Era’s Ross and Rocky Lynch play guitar on the beach while shots of them having romantic moments with their lost love from summers long ago.

Promoting their new album, The Driver Era is currently in the middle of a huge 55-city international tour. After completing the American dates on the tour with a show in St. Louis on September 3rd, The Driver Era will then travel all the way over to Japan for a September 19th show in Osaka and a September 20th show in Tokyo. The Driver Era will then take their show to Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands. The band will then end the show back here in San  Diego on November 18th.

This tour is just one more example of the continuing success of The Driver Era. Formed in 2018 by brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch, The Driver Era is an offshoot of the band R5. While touring with that group, the Lynch brothers recorded their own music and decided to pursue their own goals in the music industry. The Driver Era sites diverse influences such as INXS, Bruce Springsteen, and Prince. The band has even worked with noted hip-hop producers Pharrell and will.i.am. Ross Lynch is multi-talented as he is also a successful actor who went from Disney to more daring projects like The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and My Friend Dahmer. The Driver Era has since been praised by media outlets such as Rolling Stone, L'Officiel, Paper, Dork, Interview, and  Entertainment Tonight. Since debuting, The Driver Era has had 300 million streams and has attracted 29 million social media followers.
