The First Ever Hearts on Fire Music Festival Rocks Tempe

On Friday, September 23rd, Relentless Beats and Psycho Steve Presents teamed up to put on Hearts on Fire Music Festival at The Marquee Theatre in Tempe, AZ. With a lineup featuring early 2000s legends like Boys Like Girls and The All-American Rejects, the inaugural event was not a night to miss.

Local band, Young Misery, who won the Light A Fire battle of the bands event, was the first to take the stage. Kicking off the night, they got the energy flowing as fans packed into the intimate venue, anticipating what was to come. They were followed by Cray, who danced around the stage, bringing out a bottle of Titos, and taking a shot while fans cheered. Following Cray was Set It Off. The diverse lineup made for an interesting array of fans. Set It Off favorites “Ancient History” and “Why Worry” while fans sang back the lyrics as loud as possible.

Then began the classics. Mayday Parade walked onto “Jersey,” immediately grabbing the crowd’s attention as the energy coursed throughout the room. They played a song for you whether you were a new or old fan. Fans sang along to “Kids of Summer,” and there was not one person who was not rocking out to “Jamie All Over” as they ended their set. Next up was Boys Like Girls, performing one of their first shows in six years. Opening their set with “Love Drunk” and closing it out with “The Great Escape,” fans were transported back to the early 2000s. Their set was electric, and fans were sad to see them go before The All-American Rejects closed out the festival.

Finally, it was time. The brand whom everyone was waiting for took the stage, and the fans went wild, screaming and jumping in excitement. Those on the balcony were pressed as close as possible to peer down at the stage as The All-American Rejects walked on, silhouetted by the lights on stage. Kicking off their set with “Swing, Swing,” the nostalgia hit hard. Playing classics that everyone had on their iPods, like “Dirty Little Secret” and “It Ends Tonight,” the band did not disappoint. They ended the night with “Gives You Hell,” which everyone sang along to. All in all, it was a fun night full of nostalgic emo throwbacks.

We cannot wait to see what next year brings!
