The Smashing Pumpkins Release Act 3 of ATUM + Announce THE WORLD IS A VAMPIRE TOUR

On May 5th The Smashing Pumpkins released their highly anticipated album, ATUM. The 33 track 3 part album is a sequel to 1995’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and 2000’s Machina/Machine of God and was written and produced by Corgan over the last 4 years. Act 3 has a special edition box set featuring all 33 album tracks plus 10 unreleased songs, which are available here.

Since the release of Act 1, ATUM has been making radio waves with “Beguiled” continuing to climb Active Rock (peaked at #6) and Alternative Radio Charts (#12). Act 2’s “EMPIRES” became the #3 most added song added to Active Rock and most recently Act 3’s “Spellbinding”  became the #1 most added to Alternative Rock.

I grew up in a world where I needed to know bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure existed, it meant there was a place for people like me to hang out and belong. That’s what The World Is A Vampire is about. Bringing back that sense of community. If you don’t fit in, you belong here. It’s about having a shared experience and respecting others, but ultimately having fun. A true alternative festival, where all the self-proclaimed weirdos and outsiders of the world can get together and have a party.
— Billy Corgan

Interpol

Interpol was founded in New York in 1997 by the guitarist Daniel Kessler, who recruited the bassist Carlso Dengler and singer/guitarist Paul Banks. In 2002, the drummer Sam Fogarino joined they signed to Matador Records and released Turn On The Bright Lights. This album made it to the 10th position on NME’s list of 2002’s top releases and Pitchfork named it the years #1 album. As the next two decades have gone on they’ve achieved wide critical and commercial acclaim, six high charting records on Billboard 200, earning rave reviews all across the globe, performing on late night shows, and played major festivals. The band released their 7th album, The Other Side Of Make-Believe, in July of 2022. MOJO called the album “quietly masterful, Clash claimed it as “some of the boldest, most uncompromising work of their career”, and NME describes it as “a confident, rewarding and subtly adventurous new chapter”.

Rival Sons

Rival Sons play rock ‘n’ roll to the finest without any apology or pretense. Instead, they just plug in, turn up, and make their own path. Along their journey as a band, they’ve gotten a critically acclaimed catalog, including Pressure & Time (2011), Head Down (2012), Great Western Valkyrie (2014), Hollow Bones (2016), and FERAL ROOTS (2019). These works have scored a pair of GRAMMY Award nominations in categories “Best Rock Album” and “Best Rock Performance” for their single “Too Bad”. Elevating the band to another extreme, “Do Your Worst” vaulted #1 at Rock Radio as their biggest hit up to date with 60 million streams and counting. Rolling Stone attested “Rival Sons have done their part to introduce new fans to rock.” They have had the honor of sharing the stage with Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses and Lenny Kravitz. They have also been on television shows such as The Late Show with James Corden. During 2022, they launched their own record label, Sacred Tongue Records which is distributed by Thirty Tigers. Rival Sons will take you on one hell of a ride through their music, especially on their newest LP, DARKFIGHTER.

Stone Temple Pilots

With over 70 million records sold, Stone Temple Pilots came into the scene in 1992 with their debut album Core. The album was a huge success and peaked as #3 on Billboard 200 and dominated the radio with songs such as “Sex Type Thing”, “Wicked Garden” and the Grammy award winning single, “Plush”. With the incredible riffs of Dean DeLeo, the rhythm selection of bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz, and the incredible baritone frontman Scott Weiland, STP ruled airways, video playlists, and charts alike over their legendary career. In 2020 they released a new album, Perdida, with their new lead singer, Jeff Gutt. Paste magazine described it as “the most sonically rich experience that Stone Temple Pilots have offered fans to date.”

Last month Disney+ announced that Billy Corgan will be one of the special guests on the mockumentary The Muppets Mayhem. The entire first season is now available for streaming.

In other news, Cogan’s podcast series Thirty-Three with William Patrick Corgan offers fans of The Smashing Pumpkins the chance to hear insight on ATUM that has never been shared before as well as diving into the band's illustrious history. The podcast is distributed by iHeartPodcasts and is available on iHeartRadio and everywhere podcasts can be streamed.

When The Smashing Pumpkins first emerged from Chicago in 1988, their music was completely unique and the world never heard anything like it before. They combined rock, pop, shoe-gaze, metal, goth, psychedelia and electronic with saccharine melodies, fuzzy distortion, bombastic orchestration and unshakeable hooks. Throughout their career sound has always stood out and seemed wholly new, which still remains today. As a result, they’ve sold over 30 million albums worldwide and have won two GRAMMY Awards, two MTV VMAs and an American Music Award. Their discography includes platinum Gish (1991), quadruple platinum Siamese Dream (1993), diamond certified Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness (1995), platinum Adore (1998), and gold Machina/Machines of God (2000). In 2018, they went on one of their most successful tours ever, the Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour, which was followed by SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN. In 2020, they released their eleventh full length album and latest double album, CYR. The Smashing Pumpkins are currently working on new music and more details will come out soon.
