Court Order Release “Ocean Dream”
Local extreme metal hardcore NY/NJ based band Court Order are back with their latest single Ocean Dream. The music for this release was put together by Ace and JD with JJ contributing vocals months later. For them, it was a way to work on a collection of songs while they waited to unleash Kingdom Gone, and stay productive while waiting for its release. The band filled that lull while navigating direction from management on the album’s direction by focusing on new material. Ocean Dream is also the last song to feature JJ on lead vocals.
Ace comments:
“It’s a new chapter for the band. Each of us has stepped up to contribute something different to our sound. We’ll have one, possibly two releases later this year that will highlight some different things we’ve been working on, that aim to push us in an exciting new direction.”
I had the pleasure to hang out with the guys in the studio to hear what they’ve been cooking up as well as got the opportunity to photograph them in their element. Let’s just say, the boys are back and you’re not going to want to miss what they have in store.
Brian: Guitars/Vocals

We all enjoy dream interpretations. And if you don’t you’re an ass. This one’s based on a dream I had where I was out at sea. Woke up recalling just floating out amongst the waves, hoping to survive. Thought it was dope.
When you google Ocean dreams, they have profound meaning. Dreams of being lost out at sea, engulfed by waves, carry the obvious perseverance symbolism, the fluid shift of emotions, unexpected or sudden change, and loss. They’re also wild to experience.
As people work to keep their heads above water and not sink into the daily obligations of human life, this experience led the way for the inspiration for the theme of the meaning behind the track.
The song was tracked differently than our other work, where I got a drum mix on my own, and sent the stems to JD and he worked out the riffs independently. We started playing it live and it’s been great learning a song we pieced together 50/50 outside of the rehearsal space. It’s a part of a few tracks we spent the year focusing on while we released “Kingdom Gone.”
