On a pretty calm Tuesday night in NYC, Attila was out bring their brand of party metalcore out to liven things up a little. The Atlanta-based band was celebrating the 10th anniversary of their album “About That Life” with Gideon, ten56., and Until I Wake in tow.

Opening things up, Until I Wake ran through a quick six song set, getting the early crowd going with For The Record, off their 2022 Hopeless records release Inside My Head. Frontman Cody Johnson ran, leapt, and kept the energy going for the entire set. Not to be outdone, guitarist August Geitner and bassist Ryan Ridley matched his energy, trading places across the stage and keeping the movement going, all the while being guided by Alex Curtin’s pounding drums.

Next up was French band ten56., making their US debut on this tour. Founded by former Betraying the Martyrs frontman Aaron Matts, they brought their heavy downtrend riffs and electronics to keep things moving and getting the crowd even more energized for what was to come. Despite being a newer band, they commanded the stage like the industry veterans that comprise this band should.

Following them, was Alabama metal band Gideon, playing songs from their 2012 release, Milestone, all the way to current album More Power, More Pain. Fronted by Daniel McWhorter and his big brimmed hat, and backed by even bigger grooves from guitarist Tyler Riley, bassist Caleb DeRusha and drummer Jake Smelley, the southern four piece got the whole place moving.

Finally, it was time for the band that all the Rage shirt wearing people were waiting for. Fronted by “hopeful next US President,” and former MTV reality star Chris Fronzak, Attila played through the album “About That Life” in honor of it’s 10th anniversary. The songs were fast and heavy, accented by Fronz’s growl raps, and got the crowd in a frenzy. Show goers were treated to such classics as “Middle Fingers Up”, “About That Life”, and “Party With The Devil”, before finishing out their set with recent single “Bite Your Tongue.” The fans, who have been with the band for a decade or more really showed that they were about that life.
