MOTHICA Releases “SIRENS” Featuring Sophie Powers
The Los Angeles multimedia artist MOTHICA has released the powerful single “SIRENS” featuring Canadian alt-pop artist Sophie Powers. The track was co-written with Powers and Lynn Gunn of PVRIS and is MOTHICA’s first song to be released since “Glow in the Dark'' came out for the award winning guitar learning platform ROCKSMITH+.
MOTHICA (McKenzie Ellis) has written music since she was a child and has been producing music since the age of 18. Since 2015 she has released a dozen albums and singles with features from artists such as Nydge, PUSHER, Crywolf, and Icarus Moth. “Starchild”, her very first song to be released, got over 100,00 streams in 24 hours.
Her alt-pop music has gained 200M global streams and her 2020 debut record, Blue Hour, was at #3 on iTunes the week of its release. Last year she released her beautiful sophomore album Nocturnal as well as a deluxe and lofi version. This album received support from Billboard, Spin, MTV, Ones to Watch, Alternative Press, and Rock Sound. It has also amassed 26 million global streams. MOTHICA strives to challenge stigmas surrounding mental health through her music. This is highly important to her as her passionate fanbase has connected with her through her openness with past trauma, depression, and sobriety.
