APRICITY Presents Fantastical Adrenaline-Packed Single 'Allison Wonderful'

Apricity takes you down the rabbit hole in her latest music video, “Allison Wonderland.” Recreating the famed tea party scene from the classic children’s book, Apricity takes the role of the Mad Hatter. The surreal fantasy of the tea party is utilized to point out the dangers of believing you can create the perfect companion.

This song reflects the dream of having the perfect relationship that most want, even if it is a dream away

Toronto-based alt-pop artist collaborated with an impressive team to bring this madcap vision to life. Her team consisted of talented Canadians and Americans well-versed in working with innovative pop artists.

I was lucky again to work with Greg Critchley - an amazing songwriter - along with Thomas at Exeter Sound Studios and mixing engineer Vic Florencia.

Thomas McKay of Exeter Sound Studios is a Juno-nominated and platinum-awarded music producer. Vic Florencia had previously worked with a diverse range of artists including Olivia Rodrigo, Hilary Duff, Blue Rodeo, Steven Page, Snoop Dogg, Tanya Tagaq, and Joss Stone.

“Allison Wonderland” straddles the line between pop and rock. The song is both catchy and danceable while being hard and heavy. Like her fellow Canadians, Apricity channels the same pop-punk swagger of fellow Avril Lavigne and the righteous anger of Alanis Morrisette. Apricity takes visual and musical cues from legendary alternative female artists such as Debbie Harry, Shirly Manson, and Amy Lee.

Produced by Jesse Read (Dropout Entertainment) and directed by Apricity herself, the music video for “Allison Wonderland” is a psychedelic, storybook come to life. Filmed in various parts of Ontario, the video makes use of the gothic splendor of  Templin Garden.

We started filming this during the end of the pandemic and finished late last year. We scouted many locations for this but couldn’t get the right feel until we found The Templin Gardens in Fergus. The feeling needs to be there. It needs to suit the song and mood and what we are trying to create

The bizarre world of Lewis Carrol was a natural fit for Apricity who regularly visited fantastic worlds in her career as a video artist. In 2021, Apricity released “All My Lies” which was accompanied by a spooky, occult-themed video. She followed that a year later with the single, “The Fear” which depicted a zombie apocalypse inspired by the popular TV series The Walking Dead.

My previous videos also have the fantasy-telling story factor, so this is a continuation in that sense. I want to create a story that leads the audience into a different world. Obviously, the name of the song suits the visuals we created, with a little twist of Tim Burton-esque horror blended in.

“Allison Wonderland” is available on music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music for anyone who shares Alice’s curiosity and wants to follow the White Rabbit into the dark world of Apricity.
