Kelsey Montanez, A Long-Awaited Comeback
Two words: Kelsey Montanez; two people: Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill. What do these three have in common? They are all powerhouse vocalists. Kelsey Montanez is a Chicago-based artist who has been on the scene for years; she is the perfect blend of blues, pop, and indie rock.
The singer released new music for the first time in over a decade in 2022 and is back with a new single - “I Sold My Soul.” While the world was in a state of uncertainty and isolation, Kelsey Montanez went through a significant heartbreak and took the time to cultivate the lyrics, which would grow to be her comeback anthems. Kelsey Montanez released her first EP, “A Delightful Sadness,” in 2013. The EP was an immense success and garnered enough traction to earn a record contract and a collaboration with Chance the Rapper on the track “Out of Sight.” Kelsey Montanez is real, she’s raw, and she’s relatable; she has a way of turning deeply personal lyrics into a seductive rock sound. The singer is no stranger to taking the stage; Montanez has performed at Chicago venues, including House of Blues and Metro.
