KING DIAMOND Unveils New Video/Single, “Spider Lilly”
On 17th December band King Diamond dropped a new single and a music video for it, and today I’m going to give it a listen and watch it.
King Diamond (Kim Bendix Petersen) is a vocalist that plays and composes with a group of musicians that consists of Andy La Rocque (guitar), Mike Wead (guitar), Pontus Egberg (bass), and Matt Thompson (drums). He started his solo career after his earlier band, Mercyful Fate, broke apart in 1986. Kim was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. His, and his band’s, performances are full of heavy riffs.
The song is really characteristic thanks to its easily recognizable guitar riff and drums. The music video is very interesting, it gives us a great, but scary, story. The background of the filming process only adds to it. Music video was filmed in the very haunted place called Pennhurst Asylum that is located outside of Philadelphia, only two days before Halloween. The lyrics are also ‘scary’ in some unknown way. I feel like this track would be the perfect song for the holiday of the dead.
First time hearing King Diamond was an interesting experience. I really liked the guitar solo that Andy gave us. I would really like to hear more of the story King Diamond created in his Horror Trilogy. I can’t wait to hear more from the band and Kim himself.
