Machine Head Release Video For “UNHALLØWED”

Machine Head, the Bay Area metal legends, has announced the release of their new album ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN. This marks the tenth studio album from the group. The album is set to be released on August 26th, 2022, via Nuclear Blast x Imperium Recordings. Machine Head has already released a music video for the track “UNHALLØWED” to promote the album. In an unusual move, the video doesn’t feature the song's album version but a live performance. The video features Machine Head playing “UNHALLØWED” on the band’s own Electric Happy Hour web series.

ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN is a high-concept album that features mythic storytelling. Central to the album’s themes is two characters, Ares and Eros. The two beings are inspired by the ancient Greek gods of war and love. The band interprets the characters in the following way:

Character #1 Ares: (pronounced Aries), our main, loses the love of his life (Amethyst) and goes on a murderous rampage against the vile sect responsible for her murder.

Character #2 Eros: (pronounced Arrows) the perpetrator, who loses his mother to a drug overdose, becomes radicalized in the aftermath. Eros goes off the deep end, manifesting his killing spree.

"Drowning in the deepest depression of his life, Eros is at a breaking point,” said lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Robb Flynn. “Collecting heartaches, loss, and near-psychotic isolation, “Unhallowed” is the beginning of a powerful shift in our story. An introspective narrative starts the song lyrically, which is a collaborative effort written by myself, guitarist Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka, and bassist/backing vocalist Jared MacEachern and encapsulates the collective strength of this writing team.

While looking to the past for inspiration in creating these characters, Machine Head utilizes them through their music to tackle modern, real-world issues.

"Anchored by an absolutely monstrous groove, the vocals melodically mirror the state of mind of Eros as he reels from the loss of his mother to a drug overdose and begins a slow downward spiral into madness,” said Flynn. “However, the culmination of the track infuses some much-needed light, but will it be enough?

ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN  is a 13-track album that will be released in all digital formats as well as various physical media, including 16 different worldwide vinyl formats, deluxe vinyl box set (with bonus tracks), CDs (both old-school long box and jewel box options), multi-color cassettes, and a limited-edition Digipak with bonus tracks.
