Payday Releases Music Video For “Vampire” Featuring Danny Brown

Can a 17-year-old Southern white girl really spit out rhymes as fire as Payday claims she can? Listen to Payday’s new mixtape Rap in a Can out now via COR / TAN Records and you’ll find a phenomenal lyricist and performer. In her recently released music video for “Vampire” Payday takes a bite out of her doubters.

In Payday’s own words, the song is “the perfect spooky banger.” She enlisted rapper and comedian Danny Brown to appear on both the song and the accompanying music video which sees him stealing a hearse and going for a joyride with Payday. The video depicts Payday visiting a fortune-telling machine (a reference to the Tom Hanks film Big) and making a wish to be a vampire. With blood dripping from her lips, Payday raps killer lines such as,

Sucking all this blood, no time for talking
Have you ever seen a real life ghoul or goblin?
Payday in this bitch, got all heads bobbin'
Enchanted by the rhythm, yup, keep on nodding
I will, I will, I will, I will, dismember any emcee dissing me
My girl keep kissing me, while I be making history
Made a lot of hits to be here, but they still dissing me

Danny Brown also gets to bare his fangs with verses such as this,

We hide under the moonlight, hungover afternoon time
Victims in the castle snatched up out they suit and tie
Blood thirsty fresh out the tomb, yeah they doomed
If we ever cross paths then your soul, you will lose
No rules
Yeah we do what we choose

At such an early age, Payday has astounded hip-hop heads and music insiders with her raw talent. Starting out with a Nintendo DS and cheap microphone bought at a Walmart, Payday began to put her poetry to beats and record music in her bedroom at the tender age of 8 years old. Music was an outlet for Payday whose childhood was rough due to her family having to constantly move in search of work. By 2019, Payday had a debut single, “Super Thicc.” Suddenly the little girl who was always the new kid in school and the target of bullies became a star.

It’s crazy, I went from being the weird new kid with a southern accent to the cool kid who knew how to rap and produce music,” said Payday.

Since her debut, Payday has kept busy. Last summer saw the release of House of P.U.K.E.: The Complete Collection which compiles all three volumes of Payday’s popular EP series Unbelievably Killer EP. To promote the album Payday toured with AG Club (who also appeared on the album) and played both weekends at the Austin City Limits Festival. Now with some more experience under her belt, Payday is set to continue to climb to the top of the hip-hop world.

The project is cohesive and has a very simple message: I’m the dopest 17-year-old rapper living,” said Payday. “I honestly think so. I’m ready for whoever’s tryna prove that they’re better. I just don’t know of anyone out here who’s doin it like me.”
