Shadow of Intent Release Elegy
Since forming in 2014, Shadow of Intent has attracted a following due to their progressive rock styling of deathcore. The band uses their highly technical musical skills to create symphonic style metal that has contributed to a new renaissance within the deathcore scene. To this day, Shadow of Intent has earned 60 million streams, 22 million YouTube videos, and 240,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Shadow of Intent looks to continue their success with the new album, Elegy.
Already a series of singles off Elegy have garnered praise for the band including the recent “Where Millions Have Come to Die” featuring Phil Bozeman of Whitechapel. That single was preceded by another track off the new album, “From Ruin…We Rise” and the standalone singles “Intensified Genocide” and the Lamb of God cover “Laid to Rest”. Those tracks alone have collectively attracted 2.8 million Spotify streams and 1.5 million YouTube views.
While Shadow of Intent originally took inspiration for both their name and lyrical content from the Halo franchise, the band has since turned inward and writes songs that are more personal and often explore darker feelings. Their video content has likewise become grounded in more real-world matters as visualized in their latest video for the song, “Of Fury”. While keeping the band’s fascination with militant themes, the video moves away from a sci-fi aesthetic to a realistic depiction of WWII-era combat. The video’s story is an ideal complement to Shadow of Intent’s cinematic sound.
“We'd like to thank all of our loyal and dedicated fans, old and new, for sticking with us, and for giving us a chance,” said frontman Ben Deurr. “We'd also like to thank Christian Donaldson, Francesco Ferrini, Par Olofsson, for their help in bringing Elegy to life and giving it due justice. We hope you all enjoy the record. Time to get back to it.”
After announcing the release of their new album, Shadow of Intent won’t waste any time to “get back to it” as they also have also announced a series of concerts for the winter of 2022. In February, fans will get to experience the new songs live when Shadow of Intent joins Whitechapel and Revocation in support of Cannibal Corpse as they tour across the United States in honor of the 40 anniversary of Metal Blade Records.
