Sugar: The Nu-Metal Party

It’s time to pull your baggy pants and tracksuit out of the closet, snap on your ball chain necklaces and rock out your tribal tattoos and piercings. Sugar: The Nu-Metal Party is heading to a club near you. The tour is a celebration of the nineties music scene that gave us Korn, System of a Down, Deftones, and Slipknot.

While the nu-metal scene was more associated with mosh pits than dance clubs, Brian Howe, head DJ and production manager for Sugar: The Nu-Metal Party believes that nu-metal’s growing influence makes it more than suitable to translate into a dance night.

I think that nu-metal is one of the most impactful subgenres of heavy metal to ever exist in terms of how it rippled through the pop-culture of the time,” says Brian Howe. “It’s already been about 25 years since bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit were all over MTV and if every other culturally significant genre of music from the past 5 decades can have its own dance night why not nu-metal? As someone who loved listening to these bands as a kid and enjoys going out with friends as an adult, it just makes perfect sense for us to create a ‘nu’ space where these bands and the genre can be celebrated.
