elbow Release Single, "Flying Dream 1"

On November 5th, the band elbow released their new single, “Flying Dream 1”, off of their studio album of the same name.

This titular track is a flowing, dreamlike sound. Singer Gus Garvey’s voice never fails to bring peace to a listener, floating delicately over the band’s unique musicality. With its jazz-like qualities, rhythmic drive from the percussion, and echoing background vocals, “Flying Dream 1” takes listeners on a journey through Garvey’s dreams and nostalgia. Lyrically, the song is stunning as expected of elbow; it follows Garvey through his thoughts of his past and childhood through the lens of a dream of flight. “Flying Dream 1” feels like you are floating through the clouds in a dreamland, that same nostalgia hitting anyone as hard as it does for Garvey. And, when set against the other singles from Flying Dream 1, the warmth and magic of this song fits perfectly amongst the rest of the album - a perfect title track and a lovely experience overall.

Flying Dream 1, released November 19th. It will feature “Flying Dream 1”, along with the prior two singles released by elbow: “The Seldom Seen Kid” and “Six Words”.
