Let’s start from the beginning. How did the band form? 

Well, most of us are either related or have known each other for over a decade (or two). The band slowly came to shape in 2017 as we morphed into Further North from another band we were all in. It was a natural progression because we all knew each other in different capacities. Those close relationships have helped us to stay focused and dedicated through the difficulties of the past few years.

What’s the general writing process with 10-19 & The Number Men? Does one person come to the table with an idea and you build off of it? Does someone come with everything and fine-tune it? Tell us about it!

The process is pretty organic. We share a lot of ideas, demos, and recordings with one another so most songs develop through our regular exchanges.

Notagami is an alternative urban artist based in Queens, NY who has been making a name for herself in the underground Latin music scene. As a DJ, producer, singer, and songwriter, Notagami has combined influences from hip-hop, Latin, rock, and trap music into her fiery, sexually charged performances at various hip loft parties and secret events in New York City. Notagami is now trying to emerge from the underground scene with her first EP Maldita Nota which she self-produced.

On December 1st, small band MRBLHOUS released a single titled “Honors Student”, following their first release “November”. With a comforting and nostalgic sound, but with fresh faces in the music industry, it’s a great single full of feeling - that “gifted-kid burnout” ideal that oozes into every aspect of your life.  

How did “Born A New” come to be?

On October 20th, hardcore and rock n roll infused San Diego band Doc Hammer released a new music video for their single “Firewalk” off their new five-song EP “Final Form” showing they’re back better than ever.

On October 1st, the band Johnny Booth released a new sick track and a music video to go along for “Deepfake”. This is a fresh new single that proves this band has been hard at work during the last year while the world went into chaos and disarray. I got the opportunity to chat with the guys to catch up with them.

A native of Astoria, Queens, the singer/songwriter Doris Cellar has had a career as diverse as the borough she calls home. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Cellar is just as skilled in playing odd instruments such as the harmonium and glockenspiel as she is playing the more traditional rock instruments the keyboards and guitar. Cellar, has likewise maneuvered in between musical genres just as effortlessly.

Cut Like This is a New York-based band that combines metallic riffs with gothic melodies and a twisted punk attitude. The founders of the band are vocalist Rose Blood and guitarist Thorne Black, two circus acrobats. As circus performers, they performed on stage with DJs such as Diplo, Excision, and Steve Aoki. They have since left the big top to perform without a net in front of crowds of black-clad moshers and stompers. They've already released a couple of singles out digitally, an ode to lycanthropy, “Bite” and the supernatural-themed “Lights Out.” We spoke about keeping creative during quarantine, taking inspiration from horror films, and the need for diversity and representation in rock music.
